Around dusk inn late summer and early autumn the Sphinx Moth, also known as the hummingbird or hawk moth, is often found flying around dusk. They are frequently mistaken for small hummingbirds due to their remarkable resemblance, their ability to hover in front of flowers, and their protruding proboscis. They especially like hollyhocks.

Hummingbird Moths grow up to two inches long and have an olive-green body with red bands across the abdomen. They are pollinators that help gardens stay healthy and hardy, so enjoy watching them work!
