The best time to harvest your green chile is when you can actually just pop the fruit right off of the plant!
WHAT TO DO: Feel the chile and make sure that it is firm… if it is soft it is too early to pick. Take your chile and lift the chile upwards and if it pops off the plant then you are GOOD TO GO!
If it doesn’t pop off… then leave it for a day or two — it should be ready by then! You can also use pruners or even scissors to cut the chile right off the plant!
Nothing is really wrong with a softer chile if you do pop it off too early, it’s just that they don’t roast as well when they are not firm!
ALMOST THAT TIME! HAPPY HARVESTING!
