FREEZE ALERT FOR TONIGHT!

“The GARDEN GURU (AKA LYNN PAYNE) said it looks like our beautiful Fall weather is gearing up to FREEZE.”

According to local weather reports, we will see a frost in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico as early as this evening and possibly see freezing temperatures tomorrow night in the higher elevations.

WHAT TO DO?

Move potted plants indoors or to a sheltered spot, and cover sensitive plants in the ground with frost blankets (available at Payne’s North) — making sure the cover reaches the soil to trap warmth.

Water your plants earlier in the day, as moist soil holds heat better than dry soil. Avoid pruning or fertilizing before a freeze, and once temperatures rise again, remove covers during the day to let plants breathe and get sunlight.
