The “Old Farmer’s Almanac” has released its weather predictions for spring 2026 and expects warmer-than-normal temperatures across the United States, including New Mexico.
The “Old Farmer’s Almanac” releases long-range forecasts multiple times a year based on the three scientific disciplines of solar science, climatology, and meteorology.

For the spring forecast, the almanac focuses on April and May. So, what should New Mexico expect during those months?
The “Old Farmer’s Almanac” expects April to be warmer than usual in the desert areas of New Mexico, and May will have average temperatures. This will also be the same for Arizona and southeastern California, which the almanac publishers grouped into the Desert Southwest region with New Mexico.
In this region, rainfall will be above normal in the east and below normal in the west, according to the almanac. Out of the three states, New Mexico, California, and Arizona, it appears New Mexico will be the wettest of them all, per a map published by the Almanac above.
